福建电力职业技术学院坐落于“东亚文化之都”——泉州清源山麓，是一所创办于1984年的公办高等职业院校。随着教育发展变化，学院提出了“学历教育、职工培训”并举的两翼办学战略。现有2个校区2个实训基地，校园面积近500亩，建筑面积约15万平方米，素有“花园式校园”美誉，曾被授予“省级绿色单位”、“平安校园”等称号，连续七届蝉联福建省“文明学校”荣誉。
坚持质量立校，依托行业优势，走产学研结合发展之路的办学特色，大力推进专业建设和深化校企合作。学院现有2个中央财政支持的高等职业学校提升专业服务产业发展能力专业，2个中央财政支持的生产性实训基地，3个省级示范专业，2个省级示范性实训基地，3个省级精品专业，11门省级精品课程，设置有发电厂及电力系统、供用电技术、高压输配电线路施工运行与维护、机电一体化、电气自动化技术、电子信息工程技术、市场营销等29个专业，面向全国16个省(市、区)招生。充分发挥企业办学优势，学院建设了与生产标准一致，甚至部分超前的输配电、变电检修、继电保护等一批优质实训基地，用于职工培训和学生实训实践，使学生在校内能直接接触生产一线的先进设备设施。同时建立了129家校外实训基地，为学生在校期间技能锻炼提供了坚实基础。学院现有全日制学生2500多人。
坚持技能立身，强化学生技能实践培养。学院按发展需要，不断优化人才培养方案，把学生职业技能培养放在首位，大力实施素质教育，实行“双证书”制度，开展职业技能竞赛。近三年来，学院2组学生获全国高职院校职业技能竞赛三等奖，12组学生获省级技能竞赛一、二等奖，参加在台湾举行2014年戴夫雅宁轮型机器人国际邀请赛，获3个单项冠军，历届毕业生就业率均在95%以上，建校30年来先后向社会输送各类毕业生20000多名，为电力行业及地方经济发展做出了积极的贡献，积淀了优良的办学传统和丰富的办学经验。
积极开展闽台交流和国际合作办学。学院与台湾建国科技大学、健行科技大学等台湾院校建立合作关系，选派赴台参访、研修、学习，其中1名赴台学生参与作品获2012年意大利国际发明展暨发明竞赛金奖。引进国际先进职业教育理念，与澳大利亚启思蒙学院联合开展电力系统自动化技术专业办学项目，采用小班教学和双语教学模式，培养复合型职业技能型人才。
积极开展多形式、多层次的办学。学院既是厦门大学MBA和福州大学电气工程硕士教学点，也与长沙理工大学、上海电力学院等院校联合举办本科自考教育。

Fujian Electric Power Vocational and Technical College is located in the foothills of Qingyuan Mountain, the “cultural capital of East Asia”. It is a public higher vocational college founded in 1984. There are 29 specialties, such as power plant and power system, power supply technology, construction, operation and maintenance of high voltage transmission and distribution lines, mechatronics, electrical automation technology, electronic information engineering technology, marketing and so on.
